This is the oldest record of the Brading Corporation’s activities and records the presentments (local laws) of the Corporation and the Courts they held, including the the Court of Frank Pledge, which was system of local jurisdiction which required everyone to report their neighbours for breaking the local laws.
There are 290 pages to this book which have uploaded together. An index of all the people mentioned in all the Brading Town Books is also in the Books section of this website. Pages 289 and 290 of the book also provide a short index of subjects, which we think was compiled when the book was rebound in 1828.
