This is a thick ledger of 3075 x 245 x 65mm but will only close to 110mm as it is over-filled with folded receipts. The front cover is labelled RECEIPTS, turning the book over the other cover is labelled CORRESPONDENCE.

On the receipt side, the compiler of the ledger has folded each receipt to a small size, frequently 60 x 60mm, and glued the folded receipts onto the pages of the ledger such that they could be individually opened. In practice, however, some have been trapped by the next one being glued in. To copy all receipts would require them to be steamed off of the book, destroying its integrity, so no attempt has been made to copy or transcribe the documents in this book.

They have been filed by year, and each given a sequential number for that year. The dates covered are 1890-1904. The receipt numbering is generally one receipt – one number but there are exceptions. Receipt No 19/1895 contains six receipts with no discernible connection: Tithe Rent, Harveys for printing, Jacobs for repairs, Addley for dusters, Chaplin for cartage, repairs to pump. The year date appears to be the date that the clerk dealt with the bill, not necessarily the date on the receipt. There are also duplicate numbers, perhaps dealt with by the clerk on the same day.
